With the Lakers trailing by two points, Jared Vanderbilt tried to attack the baseline. But with defenders blocking the driving lane, Vanderbilt found Davis on the trail and dunked Hornets big man Nick Richards to end the game.
With the home crowd in Los Angeles erupting in excitement, Davis forced himself on Richards, but unfortunately was given a technical foul.
The Lakers currently lead the Hornets, with Davis already over the 20-point mark. There may be more than a quarter of the game left, but Los Angeles is looking good with multiple players already scoring in double figures. Davis had 40 points and 13 rebounds in the Lakers’ last loss and is aiming for another big game.
As for the Hornets, they will be without star player LaMelo Ball, who injured his ankle last month. Outside of Ball, veteran Gordon Hayward, big man Mark Williams and guard Frank Ntilikina have also missed the team’s ongoing games due to injuries.
Looking at the current game, the Hornets are significantly behind, and if they want a chance at an upset, stopping a hungry Anthony Davis might be a logical first step.
