BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (WDTV) – “New year, new you” is sometimes easier said than done. But the many great gyms in north central West Virginia can help you stay motivated.
Orange Theory Fitness is located in Morgantown and Bridgeport. Employee girlfriend Myriah Davis says it’s inspiring to see how much progress people can make in just one year.
“Personally, I love following change. Seeing people go through change, not just physically, but mentally and emotionally,” Davis said.
One of the most difficult parts of keeping these New Year’s resolutions may be creating a routine and sticking to it.
Gym member Mackenzie Gould says Orangetheory’s program is helping her reach her goals.
“I feel like it keeps me consistent. Once I sign up for a class, it’s easy to not go to the gym in other places, but here I feel like I want to go to the gym,” Gould said. he said. “You get what you put in, so you can get on the treadmill and walk or run. Definitely the more you push yourself, the more intense it gets, so I like that part of it too. ”
But even something less controlled can help you stay in shape.
Rowan, 9, enjoys playing basketball with his family at Bridge Sports Complex.
Father Stephen Chambers says it’s a fun way to bond with kids and help them grow.
“Being able to come and shoot hoops with the kids teaches them how to make exercise a part of their daily routine, teaches them daily health, and makes sure that regular activities are part of their daily routine. I think it definitely instills good values about making sure that they’re growing strong and healthy,” Chambers said.
For those who haven’t made up their mind yet, Rowan hopes this will motivate them.
“If you don’t exercise, get up off the couch, go outside, do some jumping jacks a few times a day, wrap yourself in some exercise tape and play sports. If you don’t, I warn you that there will be consequences.” Because there is,’” Rowan said.
